Granting the status of a jobseeker

The status of a JOBSEEKER may be obtained by a person who is:

  • a citizen of:
    1. European Union Member States,
    2. European Economic Area countries not belonging to the European Union,
    3. a country that is not a party to the agreement on the European Economic Area, which may use the free movement of persons on the basis of agreements concluded by the countries with the European Community and its Member States (i.e. a citizen of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland),
  • a foreigner:
    1. holding the status of a refugee in the Republic of Poland,
    2. holding a permanent residence permit in the Republic of Poland,
    3. holding a long-term EU resident's residence permit in the Republic of Poland,
    4. holding a temporary residence permit in the Republic of Poland granted in connection with the circumstances referred to in art. 127 or art. 186 par. 1 point 3 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners (Journal of Laws of 2018, items 2094, 2399),
    5. holding a temporary residence permit in the Republic of Poland granted in connection with the circumstances referred to in art. 144, art. 151 par. 1, art. 151b par. 1, art. 159 par. 1, art. 160, art. 161, art. 161b par. 1, art. 176, art. 186 par. 1 points 1, 2, 4, 5 and 7 or article. 187 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners (Journal of laws of 2018, items 2094, 2399)or holding a national visa for the purpose of undergoing first-cycle studies, second-cycle studies or uniform master's studies or education at a doctoral school, with the annotation "student", or a national visa for the purpose of conducting research or development works,
    6. holding a temporary residence permit referred to in art. 114 par. 1 or 1a or art. 126 par. 1 of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners (Journal of Laws of 2018, items 2094, 2399), or a visa issued for the purpose of performing work in the territory of the Republic of Poland,
    7. holding in the Republic of Poland a visa issued for the purpose referred to in art. 60 par. 1 point 5a of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners (Journal of Laws of 2018, items 2094, 2399), or a temporary residence permit referred to in art. 185A of the Act of 12 December 2013 on foreigners (Journal of Laws of 2018, items 2094, 2399), or staying on the territory of the Republic of Poland as part of the visa-free regime in connection with the application entered in the register of applications referred to in art. 88p par. 1 point 1,
    8. holding a residence permit for humanitarian reasons or a tolerated stay permit in Poland,
    9. being under temporary protection in the Republic of Poland,
    10. applying in the Republic of Poland for granting international protection and the spouse on behalf of whom they are applying for international protection, holding a certificate issued on the basis of art. 35 of the Act of 13 June 2003 on granting protection to foreigners within the territory of the Republic of Poland (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 1666, as amended),
    11. being under subsidiary protection in the Republic of Poland;
    12. being a family member of a Polish citizen;
  • a foreigner accompanying a foreigner on the territory of the Republic of Poland who is a resident:
  1. European Union Member States,
  2. European Economic Area countries not belonging to the European Union,
  3. a country that is not a party to the agreement on the European Economic Area, which may use the free movement of persons on the basis of agreements concluded by the countries with the European Community and its Member States (i.e. a citizen of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland),

* as a family member referred to in art. 2 par. 24 of the Act of 14 July 2006 on the entry into the territory of the Republic of Poland, on the stay and departure from the territory of citizens of the European Union Member States and their family members (Journal of Laws of 2019, item 293);

You can register as an unemployed person or a jobseeker via the praca.gov.pl website or at your local employment office.

For this, they need to set up a user account on the praca.gov.pl website and a trusted profile.
